Acer leucoderme 'Confederate Ghost' is a rare, variegated selection of chalk maple and appears to be fairly compact growing.  There is no information available on this plant and I've only seen a fairly small plant (4') growing at the JCRA.  Fortunately I had some seedlings of Acer floridanum - a close relative to Acer leucoderme - and was able to graft a few plants this year.  Acer leucoderme 'Confederate Ghost' has leaves that show a reticulated silver and green pattern that is stronger colored in the spring, but still noticeable into the summer.  This variety is unlike any other variegated maple that I've ever seen and will certainly find a prized location in my personal garden.  EXTREMELY limited supply.
