Acer palmatum 'Enkan' leaves emerge in the Spring dark red that are dissected at the base with thin lodes. This gives 'Enkan' sometimes called "Ankan les" the appreance of being bamboo. Enkan is a red linearilobum strap leaf type Japanese maple that isn't seen very often in the nursery trade. As the fall settles in the leaves on 'Enkan' turn a bright scarlet red.  You can expect 'Enkan' to reach 12 to 14 ft high by 7 to 8 ft in wide in 10 years.
