Acer palmatum 'Kashima'
Rare Kashima yatsubusa Dwarf Japanese Maple
Zones 5-9
Acer palmatum ‘Kashima’ leaves emerge in the spring as yellow-green toned center with a pink toned margin. As the leaves of 'Kashima' mature they turn a bright green that is a lot lighter that other Hime types. As fall starts to cool, the leaves of 'Kashima' will start to turn a mixture of orange and red.
‘Kashima’ shape is that of a mushroom and requires no additional clipping to retain this shape. Add this to it's vigorous and horizontal branching habit, makes Japanese maple ‘Kashima’ an excellent selection for a container or a bonsai. Expect 'Kashima' to reach 4ft high by 5ft wide in 10 years.
