‘Kashima’ is small domed shaped Japanese maple with chartreuse tones to the leaf in the early spring, with a reddish toned margin laid over green on the new growth. The older leaves on ‘Kashima’ tend to be a lighter green when compared to many other “hime” types. The growth on ‘Kashima’ is horizontal with a very dense habit. Fall color on ‘Kashima’ is typically reddish orange . ‘Kashima’ is also known as ‘Kashima Yatsubusa’, with Yatsubusa simply referring to the dwarf growth habit of this tree. ‘Kashima’ May reach 3-4 ft in height by 4-5 ft in width in 10 years. ‘Kashima’ is a great for containers or bonsai.
