Acer palmatum ‘Mikazuki’ leaves emerge out in the early spring electric pink-red with deep red-purple veining that will have you loosing time as you admire just how crazy this Japanese maple looks. I'm still trying to figure out how you can pack so much color into one tree. As the summer rolls in, ‘Mikazuki’ will turn to a light green-cream with  deep-green veins that will continue to make you ooh and aah. As the fall temperature start to cool down ‘Mikazuki’ leaves turn a brilliant golden yellow to orange. You can expect 'Mikazuki' to reach 10ft high by 7ft wide in 15 years. To extend the spring color of  pink-red on this Japanese maple in the south, make sure you provide protection from the hot afternoon sun of summer.
