Aucuba japonica 'Shilpot' (gold dust plant, Japanese laurel, spotted laurel) is an evergreen shrub with green leaves peppered with multitudes of tiny yellow spots in a uniform pattern. Aucuba japonica 'Shilpot' is compact and excellent in mass plantings, foundation plantings on the north side of your house, or as a specimen. Aucuba japonica 'Shilpot' is a male clone and will pollinate any nearby female Aucuba plants so they can produce their showy red (some cultivars are white) berries. Aucubas are great plants that will thrive in heavy shade.
