Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin'
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin'
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin' (oakleaf hydrangea) is a small, compact, deciduous shrub with green leaves and white flowers in a conical shaped inflorescence. Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin' has green leaves during the summer that change to ruby colors in the fall and typically holds its leaves late into the season. Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin' slowly makes a compact shrub to about 3' x 3' and is covered with typical Hydrangea quercifolia flower clusters that start out white and fade to pinkish tones late in the season. Hydrangea quercifolia 'Munchkin' is stunning in mass plantings and great as a small specimen near the front of your garden. It is the most dwarf of the Hydrangea quercifolia cultivars and my personal favorite of the dwarf clones.
