Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' RARE
Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' RARE
Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' (yaupon holly) is a RARE evergreen shrub or small tree with small gold colored leaves. Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' is a new, bright golden leave selection of yaupon holly selected by John Davy (Panhandle Growers) in Florida. Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' is an exciting addition to the garden with its bright golden colored leaves that appear to glow in the garden and would make a stunning hedge, mass planting or specimen where ever a splash of color is needed in your garden. We have seen female flowers on Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' but didn't have a suitable pollinator close by so have not yet seen fruits. Would expect the typical small red fruits found on the species if you have a good pollinator nearby. Ilex vomitoria 'Panhandle Gold' will exhibit best color in full sun and will be chartreuse colored in part shade and will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions and well as salty spray from the ocean.
