Lespedeza thunbergii 'Variegata'

Lespedeza thunbergii 'Variegata' (bush clover) is a deciduous shrub with heavily white variegated leaves in the spring (variegation less intense later in the year) and small rose colored in the fall.  Lespedeza thunbergii 'Variegata' is best treated as a late winter cut back shrub (cut to about 4") for best foliage color and flowering.  Lespedeza thunbergii 'Variegata' can be used in mass plantings, works well with large ornamental grasses, or in the back of perennial borders and also can be used as a specimen.  Lespedeza thunbergii 'Variegata' is nice in the late summer garden with its open, airy habit and late summer into fall blooming period when many other plants are not looking their best.
