Quercus dentata 'Pinnatifida' RARE
Quercus dentata 'Pinnatifida' RARE
Quercus dentata 'Pinnatifida' is an extremely cutleaf form of Japanese emperor oak the very large, highly incised leaves. Quercus dentata 'Pinnatifida' is probably the most extreme leaf form of any oak - it has very large leaves that are dissected almost to the midrib. Quercus dentata is RARE, not easily propagated, very difficult to obtain scionwood, so sadly, rarely offered in the trade. Quercus dentata is fairly slow growing, even though it will occasionally put on 1-2' of growth in a year and is a sparsely branched, open tree and is best used as a focal point/specimen in the garden. Quercus dentata leaves emerge in the spring and most unusual shade of purple and appear very fuzzy - truly amazing. We rarely have this beauty available and have very limited numbers this year.
