Viburnum awabuki 'Silver Halo' is an evergreen shrub with green leaves broadly margined white. Viburnum awabuki 'Silver Halo' is the only stable variegated form of Viburnum awabuki we've seen so far (we have tried others but all totally unstable) and is stunning with its large, shiny, evergreen leaves very broadly margined in pure white. Viburnum awabuki is RARE and I've only seen 2 large plants in the USA (both in the same garden) and it also fairly difficult to grow well. We have planted several scattered around our gardens in a wide range of conditions - trying to figure out the best growing conditions for it. We still don't have the answer. Probably best in the PNW (which is where to 2 large plants I've seen are growing). Guessing best in the southeast if grown in partial shade with well drained, fairly rich soil. Viburnum awabuki 'Silver Halo' is one of the most stunning evergreen, variegated plants I've ever seen and worth the extra effort to grow it. Very difficult to propagate so very limited availability.
